The Sydney Opera House
Monday, September 08, 2008
The Sydney Opera House is an expressionist modern design, with a series of large precast concrete shells, each taken from a hemisphere of the same radius, forming the roofs of the structure. It is one of the best known icons of Australia and was among the 20 selected finalists in the 2007 New Seven Wonders of the World. The Opera House covers 1.8 hectares (4.5 acres) of land. It is 183 metres (605 feet) long and about 120 metres (388 feet) wide at its widest point. It is supported on 588 concrete piers sunk up to 25 metres below sea level. Its power supply is equivalent for a town of 25,000 people. The power is distributed by 645 kilometres of electrical cable. (Source: wikipedia)
The number one attraction that was listed on our list when we visited Australia is The Opera House in Sydney. We went there twice. The next day that we arrived in Sydney (we took a rest on our first day because of jet lag) and the day before we left. This beautiful white structure will just blow your mind away. To see this building in photos and videos is one thing, but to see it in person exceeded my expectations.
We love to see it's breathtaking architecture. It's also very relaxing to see the birds, water and many attractions surrounded to it. We also walked all around the outside of it. There are thousands of people visit there everyday from morning to night. Tourists come to see the wonderful building and take lots of pictures.
Here are more pictures that i've taken. Click pictures to enlarge.
